Pinterest | From a Work Project to a Daily Habit

If you had told me a year ago that Pinterest would become one of my favourite places to spend time online, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

Ironically, it all started because of work. Around 12 months ago I was given responsibility for managing our company’s Pinterest account. As I spent more time understanding how the platform worked, I found myself becoming completely absorbed. Before long, I’d created my own personal account… and I was hooked.

Now I have boards for absolutely everything.

From home décor and fashion to recipes, family adventures and dream destinations, Pinterest has become my little corner of inspiration. Whenever I have an idea, a project or simply want to escape for ten minutes with a cup of tea, it’s the first place I head.

My Latest Obsession: Pinterest Summer Camping

My newest board is all about summer camping.

Now, this may surprise anyone who knows me because camping was never really my thing. I was much happier imagining myself tucked up in a super king-size bed than sleeping outdoors!

But something has changed.

The thought of long, warm evenings outside now fills me with excitement. I love the idea of slowing down, walking barefoot through the grass, rolling my trousers up and simply enjoying being outdoors.

More importantly, I love seeing George absolutely thrive. Watching him explore nature, discover new things and enjoy the freedom that comes with being outside reminds me just how important these simple family moments are.

One thing I’m particularly excited about is our beautiful bell tent from Sussex Bell Tents. The first time I saw one, I completely fell in love. They’re incredibly spacious and can be transformed into a cosy little home from home.

I’ve been saving endless inspiration for decorating ours, from fairy lights and rugs to comfy bedding and beautiful accessories.

I’m also slightly obsessed with enamel dinner sets—they somehow make every meal feel like an adventure—and we’ve even got a wood-burning stove ready for those cooler evenings when the temperature starts to drop.

My next challenge? Perfecting homemade pizza bases so we can enjoy delicious wood-fired pizzas on our camping trips.

Holiday Memories That Stay With You

One of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten came from a tiny mobile pizza company that visited the little village where we stayed near Bradworthy, just outside Bude.

You’d order online and then collect your pizza from their gorgeous vintage-style truck.

I can still remember the incredible goat’s cheese topping, although sadly I can’t remember the company’s name! It became one of the highlights of every holiday and is exactly the kind of memory that sticks with you long after you’ve unpacked your suitcase.

It’s funny how food has a way of becoming part of family traditions.

Dreaming About Homes and Future Adventures

Of course, my Pinterest boards aren’t just filled with camping inspiration.

There are boards dedicated to every room in our new home. I spend hours saving beautiful interiors, clever storage ideas and affordable alternatives to designer pieces that I simply adore.

Let’s be honest—my taste often far exceeds my budget!

One of the things I love most about Pinterest is discovering ways to recreate expensive looks without spending a fortune. Whether it’s finding similar pieces or inspiring me to have a go at a DIY project, it reminds me that beautiful homes don’t always have to come with luxury price tags.

Alongside interiors are boards filled with fashion inspiration and places I’d love to explore with George. I want him to experience different cultures, wander through colourful streets, discover new foods and dream about sun-kissed destinations across the world.

Sometimes simply planning those adventures is just as exciting.

Creating Memories, One Pin at a Time

Looking back over the last year, Pinterest has become so much more than a place to save pretty pictures.

It has reignited my creativity.

It has encouraged me to finally do things I’ve talked about for years.

This year I’m taking a cooking class at Rick Stein‘s, something I’ve wanted to do for ages. Even more exciting, we’ve finally booked a family meal at one of his Padstow restaurants St Petrocs. Every single visit we’ve walked past saying, “We really must come here one day.”

Well, this year is finally that day.

Pinterest hasn’t just inspired decorating ideas or camping trips. It’s reminded me that life is about collecting experiences, making memories together and saying yes to the things you’ve always wanted to do.
